Fancy a race with a fun twist? Then we've got just the thing! Zest has created an exciting new challenge race where you'll have to make your way round a beautiful course with a mix of running, cycling, kayaking, a few mystery challenges - and a lot of laughter! And you'll do all this with the help of your best mate.

This event has proved so popular places sold out almost immediately, but the good news is, MORE PLACES ARE NOW AVAILABLE. That means even more Zesties can enjoy a fun fit day out on the Zest Girls' Big Adventure!

Entry to the Zest Girls' Big Adventure, in association with Shock Absorber, is as a team of two, so join forces with your friend, mum, daughter or sister. You don't have to be super-fit, as it's suitable for all abilities, and some of the challenges will test your wits as well as your fitness.

Taking place in leafy Lee Valley Park, a 26-mile long country park stretching through Herts and Essex, it's a great day out for your family and friends, too. The Zest Village will be full of pampering treats, while an amazing goodie bag awaits all competitors. Places are limited, so sign up today and we'll see you there!

I have had a horrible day and work so have probably taken to heart, but just wanted to say yippee just what the UK needs another womens only race!!

While I have always understood Zest to be targeted at a female readership I find that very little content is specifically only relevant to women (with the exception of some health stuff due to the obvious physical differences, and a few ads for women only activities which bizarrely often seem to be run by men which surely defeats the point!!), And i have been a regular reader for a couple of year and now subscribe . Personally I like the magazine because is far more useful and balanced that the male equivilents which panders to the outdated stereotype that every guy want to be stronger, toughter and generally a musclebound lump!!.

i fuller accept that the average male is quicker than the average female and this would make a competitive rance difficult, but the entry as a couple aspect of this event means there are ways this could be addressed as a mixed race, and isn't this event for fun??

As this is an event entered in couples why not have it so each pair must include one female and that the pair have to finish together therefore removing and percieved advantage of having a male in the team. Now that would be an innovative race (and one i havent seen done so if anyone knows of one like this please let me know) rather than being unimaginative with yet another womens race when there is already an abbundance of this with the race for life which seems to think only women have ever lost a loved one to cancer.

Yes i am thinking of myself here, i wont enter a male only race as i tend to find any male only sporting activity far to over competitve so it would be great to find a nice mixed fun event. But at the same time how many zest readers train with their husband, boyfriend or male friend? Would it not be nice to be able to enter an "family" event like this together. Surely ypu would already have the setup in place, this could be run alongside a womens only event and would generate more income having 2 event held on the same day on the course. You send the mixed teams offer earlier and then the womens race as the main event.

I agree, I would be more likely to enter if I could take my boyfriend as my partner. Working as a team, having fun together, sounds like a relationship strengthener to me...

Thank you for your comments. After extensive research, we realised that there was a demand for more women-only events, especially ones with an adventure element. As a result, we created the Zest Girls' Big Adventure, which provides a unique opportunity for women to team up together and enjoy a fun, competitive race.
In the meantime, as we found, there are hundreds of races open to both men and women - to find one, check out the Runner's World event finder. http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/defaultevents.asp?sp=&v=2

Hi just wondering what time the Girl big adventure race will start - sounds like great fun But living Leicester it might be tricky to get to if it starts to early....

Are you hosting planning to host one more midlands based anytime???

I would absolutely love to do this... but it's the same weekend as Glastonbury! boo!! Such a good idea though, and i would definitely enter if you do any more races like this.

Great work Zest team!
