I can see the finish line! In the interests of research I attended a lighterlife press day yesterday where a very knowledgeable doctor told me all of the serious effects of being even slightly overweight (and they're a lot worse than not looking good in Topshop skinnies, although this is still my major concern). Apparently 1.2 million (!) people moved into the 'overweight' or 'obese' category over the Christmas period. Kind of puts that festive spirit of excess into perspective...I'd been telling myself it was only people who struggled to get through a door without breathing in that needed to panic, but actually more of us should be worried about getting in shape. The good news (there was some thank goodness) was that the positive effects of exercise on the body can be found just 30 minutes after working out. That means every time I've tried to convince myself that one little run/class/gym session wouldn't make an ounce of difference was total rubbish. Quite a motivating thought for the day. Shame it turned out to be my 'rest' day...
Today was boxing, which was more fun than my Tuesday session - mainly because I sort of knew the steps now. My arms were aching and actually now I stop to think about it, they are looking much better than they did a few weeks ago; I've been to so many classes in the past where you play with gym balls, and lurid coloured weights that I really thought simply punching the air wouldn't do much, however I stand corrected (and pleased)! What amazed me most is how easy this boxing workout was to do, you don't really need anything except space to do it in.
Final few days and I'll report on Monday how the whole month went - fingers crossed those Size 12 jeans fit...
