Natalie Mensah on our summer body challenge
This week has been a real challenge. In fact the next few weeks are all pretty challenging because there are at least two big family birthdays to celebrate each week – that’s six celebration dinners and worse, six birthday cakes to avoid. And my family certainly don’t do things by halves – think big platefuls of meat and carbs. Steak, potatoes, Chinese – you name it, my willpower’s going to be tested with it!
I’m definitely getting into the swing of things now though and learning not to let tiny blips throw me completely off course. So now, I’ll have four or five days when I’m completely in the zone, and if I eat something not quite so virtuous at my cousin’s birthday or a client lunch, rather than throwing in the towel like I would have before, I’m back on it straight away the next day. Those little challenges motivate me to work harder on the exercise front, too. But nothing’s keeping me on the straight and narrow quite like the thought of the final photo shoot. More to the point, the fact that I might have to wear a bikini at the final photo shoot. That’s definitely enough to help me say a big no to the birthday cake!
