Week 2: Katie

If I'm honest, last week's weigh and measure in put a bit of a downer on all the hard work I had applied to my workouts and eating regimes. Having worked out 5 times in 7 days and keeping strictly to the guidelines of what to and what not to eat - I was convinced I would be seeing record results. Sadly they were all in the wrong direction! Only losing a miserly 0.5kg and putting on cm's around the crucial areas of my arms, tummy and legs, I was dumbfounded.

After all the work I'd put in at the gym - 2x interval training; 2x weight sessions and 1x 25 min swim - I felt a bit depleted and decided to really enjoy my treat meal at the weekend, which consisted of a lovely slice of lemon drizzle cake followed by a couple gin and slims and glasses of wine, with a little serving or two of ice cream on the side... whoops. Woke up slightly woozy on Sunday from all my indulgences, remembering it was back to work again on the food and exercise.

From the start my PT, Demi, has emphasised that in order to really achieve my goal during this programme, keeping to my eating plan was going to help deliver a massive 90% of the result - so I feel like I have a huge responsibility to keep my will power going and not slip into the old eating habits of - "just a little bit of what you fancy, surely that won't matter?"

Session 2 with Demi was set to be on Monday but a last minute photo-shoot for work had to take priority and so we moved this session to tonight - another major benefit of having a PT that is flexible to move where possible to suit your schedule, if like my job, you have last minute things crop up that can't be helped, this is brilliant.

I have to admit starting up my exercise from cold and on my own yesterday was a bit of a struggle after 3 days off, but once I had finished the treadmill interval training I felt pumped. I even enjoyed it, and definitely feel there's been some progression in my stability and strength, and I was much more at ease prancing about in the gym, doing my weights and core work with the rest of the gym bunnies.

I even snuck in a wee look at my weight once I'd had my shower and as luck would have, I've miraculously dropped down another 1kg in weight, hurrah - although a bit confused - was it the lack of exercise and diet of booze from the weekend working it's magic or just my metabolism finally starting to kick in - whatever the truth is, happiness has been restored!

Erica's update: 'My muscles have felt a bit tired for the past couple of days so I made this morning's workout slightly shorter at 30mins in order to make recovery a little easier so I can do the full 50 minutes on Friday. Chose a couple of my favourite sections that made sure I still got a good exercise and had fun at the same time!'

Lyndsey's update: 'So far this week, I've been Spinning again (maybe it's addictive after all!) and also tried a ViPR class, which ached muscles I didn't even know I had, so today I'm having a well-earned day off.'
