So, what did you get up to over the weekend? Achieve anything?

What did we achieve? I hear you ask... Well, a group of us Zesties got together yesterday in Hyde Park in London to take part in the Adidas 5k Women's Challenge race, complete with matching pink Zest t-shirts. Joined by 3 lucky Zest readers - who had had the added benefit of a training session with Liz Yelling - we all dashed around the course in under 35 minutes.  A fantastic result. You may have even spotted our deputy editors on TV or perhaps mistaken one of us for being an elite athlete. Yes, that did really happen (I did manage to shave 3 minutes off my PB to 26 and a half minutes, so I felt very much the part!)

We're all now raring to go for our next race.

Our lucky readers will also be posting a blog so do look out for that soon as well...

As one of the lucky three, I had a great time both at the Adidas 5k and at the training session with Liz Yelling in July.

The first week of the training plan really gee'd me up and got me going and I dragged my best friend out (on her bike - she wimped out of keeping up!)cos I train much better in company. I'd never done a hill or speed session before but found I actually enjoyed them - mad or what?! Three weeks into the plan I discovered that there were size 10 things I could fit into and I was definitely getting faster. Turns out I was right - at the Adidas Challenge I took 3 minutes off my PB and ran it in 31.30. Not quite as fast as Linet Masai but you know, getting better!!

Now I have a new challenge - I want that time under 30 minutes by Christmas and then it's onwards to 10km training. Did someone whisper half marathon? AAARRRGGHH!

Huge thanks to the Zest team for making both days times to really remember. Hope to see you same race same place next year.

By the way, I'm at the far right, back row.
