If you love the idea of keeping fit through playing sport but have never found the activity that suits you, there’s a new online way to find out: with the NHS 'what’s your sport' tool.

Log in, take the aptitude and psychological tests and hey presto: you'll find out what sports might be just up your street.

The 11 different categories include team sports such as football and basketball, solo sports including athletics and rock climbing, aesthetic sports (gymnastics, figure skating), winter sports, and lifestyle sports like walking and cycling.

The test was devised by sports psychologists at Loughborough University.

Dr David Fletcher, lecturer in sport and performance psychology, who led and managed the development of the test, says, 'With just weeks to go until the Olympics, most of us will be feeling inspired to get active. This tool helps people find sports they are most inclined to enjoy and be good at, so giving many the impetus to get started in finding an activity that they can really embrace and form a part of their lifestyle.'
