Did you run the 5k or 10k course on Saturday? Zest was there for a super-friendly morning event
As 1,300 women lined up to kick off their weekend with a bracing run through Richmond Park, Zest was there too. And what an enjoyable event it was.
'Less chatting, more running,' called out one of the marshalls. 'We can't run if we don't chat!' came the response from a pair of cheerful runners as they approached the 4km marker.
That attitude summed up the atmosphere of Shock Absorber's WomenOnly Run through a misty Richmond Park on Saturday October 20, 2012. No argybargy or elbows, simply loads of encouragement and support for women of all ages and fitness levels. And masses of charity runners, with an impressive number of pink Breast Cancer Care T-shirts on runners throughout the field.
Team GB 200m sprinter Margaret Adeoye sent the 10k field off and was there to hand out medals at the end too.
But before the finish line came into view, we trotted through the scenic surroundings, parakeets and crows flying overhead, while deer wandered through the bracken alongside the closed-road route. The undulating course was enough to challenge but thankfully we were spared the worst of Richmond Park's hills.
And then at the end, some super goodies and a free yoga stretching session to ease tired limbs from YogaLondon.
A great race to run with a pal, and for seasoned runners and beginners alike, if you're looking for a challenge for 2013, this one comes highly recommended.
