Saddle up for a ride to Paris
Fancy a new cycling challenge? Like to combine it with amazing scenery and some sight-seeing in one of Europes most beautiful cities? Then Discover Adventure's London to Paris Cycle Ride in aid of Action Medical Research, may be just for you.
With cycling becoming more and more popular over recent months for commuting, exercise or socially, and an increasing number of women-only events including Victoria Pendleton's Cycletta, women are being actively encouraged to back into the saddle.
This Discover Adventure route now also has a Women's Only Route, new for 2012. The four-day trip takes you from London's O2 Arena, through the rolling countryside of Kent and small villages and market towns of Northern France, to arrive at your final destination under the Eiffel Tower in time to see the world famous Tour de France arrive home.
Despite the distance involved, the challenge is achievable to anyone prepared to put in a little training. And to arrive in Paris knowing how hard you've worked will only add to the amazing sense of achievement.
Zest's Deputy Art Editor, Erica Bund, is taking part in the ride from 18- 22 July, 2012. We'll be following her training over the coming months as well as her progress en route to Paris. Check back for regular updates on her training over the coming months.
Fancy taking part? To join the cycle ride, you need to commit to raising £1,400 for Action Medical Research and pay a registration fee of £99. All accommodation, most meals and travel on the ferry and Eurostar (for the journey home) are included.
