Would you like to see a ban on sweets at the supermarket checkout?

Mums already hate it for kids - now adult dieters are also complaining about the retail practice of sticking a sweets display shelf right by the conveyor belt to tempt you into a high-calorie last-minute purchase.

According to an online survey from diet company All About Weight, 87% of dieters or those considering going on diets said they were 'significantly disturbed' in response to special offers being displayed on confectionary at the checkouts.

A thousand people were asked, 'How do you react when you see confectionary special offers displayed near to shop checkouts?' and were given the choices 'don't notice', 'of no interest', 'significantly disturbing' or 'stressful'.
