Hear about our adventures learning RiRi's dance moves with her backing dancer, at Seen on Screen Fitness
When the lovely people from Seen on Screen Fitness asked if anyone on the Zest team fancied a one-on-one dance class with Rihanna's backing dancer, I jumped at the chance. I'm a massive RiRi fan and as I'm off to her O2 gig next week, I figured it'd be handy to practise busting some moves in advance.
Arriving at the central London studio, dancer Keeley, who's toured with Rihanna a number of times, asks me what song I want to dance to. It's a no-brainer: Only Girl in the World is one of my faves. Keeley tells me we'll start with a warm-up to a Beyonce track. I presume this will involve a few stretches, but before I know it my abs are on fire and my legs are reeeally feeling the burn! Fired up and ready to go, Keeley teaches me the Rihanna routine in short, manageable sections and soon I'm striking poses, strutting my stuff and even body rolling (something I never thought I was capable of!). The session flies by and before I know it, our time's up.
The one-on-one element was great - Keeley was very patient, worked totally at my pace and, most importantly, made it lots of fun. I came out of the class having mastered loads of moves, feeling fab and full of confidence that when RiRi clocks me shaking my thang in the crowd next week, she'll insist I join her on stage...
If you're not brave enough for a one-on-one, Seen on Screen run weekly classes every Tuesday at the Notting Hill Harbour Club, as well as a monthly Saturday workshop (the next one is on 7 January). There's also the option to get the girls together for a private group session. For more information or to book any of these classes, visit: www.seenonscreenfitness.com
