Bride-to-be Taylor is on a seemingly endless search for do-it-all wedding lingerie
Undergarments. Is it just me, or is this one of the most unexpectedly difficult parts of wedding planning? Knickers, pants, bloomers, bras – they’ve been on my mind for months and finding the perfect set has proved much harder than I imagined.
For my sister-in-law who got married last month, her search for the perfect bridal pant was a breeze: her dress had a built-in bra and corset, plus a full, thick skirt. All she had to worry about was whether she wanted white lace or blue.
But for me it’s not so straightforward. Without revealing too much about my dress (my fiancé has been known to frequent this blog), I don’t have the luxury of a built-in corset sucking me in or eight layers of chiffon that hide panty lines (embarrassing enough in daily life, humiliating on your wedding day).
I want something that holds me in once the bubbles start flowing, doesn’t take the attention away from my dress, and (some may say this is the most important part, my fiancé included) has the wedding night Sexy Factor.
It sounds easy enough. But it turns out sexy underwear doesn’t actually make you look slim, and slimming underwear couldn’t be further from sexy. After working my way through all the big (and little) lingerie shops in London, I was still without underwear that ticked both the function and form boxes. And with less than five months to go until the big day, it’s not something I can keep putting off (T-minus wedding time goes much faster than normal time).
