Up the ante on your next stroll in the woods and really reap the fitness benefits
If you enjoy walking, maybe you're planning a more energetic trekking holiday. How to ramp up your everyday stroll into a practice session for the hills?
Zest fitness expert Jon Stratfrod advises, 'First of all, make sure you wear in the walking boots you'll be wearing on holiday - blisters are the last thing you need.
'Also, carry a small rucksack when you go out walking, to get used to the extra weight you'll be carrying during your trip. Even if it just has a spare top, waterproof jacket and a bottle of water inside. The lightest of loads can take its toll when you're out walking all day.
'Make sure you pick up the pace on your walks right now so you're moving at a speed where you can just about hold a conversation.
'Finally, choose routes that incorporate a few hills to make sure you're not writtten off after the first day.'
