If you've ever driven to South Wales, chances are you've seen the Celtic Manor Resort -  looming over the motorway from the hillside, it's pretty hard to miss. But looks are deceiving, because there's a lot more to this place than a flash hotel.

The resort itself spans a whopping 1,400 acres, while the history of the estate dates back as far as 1634.

Famous for its golf facilities - well it was home to the 2010 Ryder Cup after all - it's now making a name for itself as the perfect place for a luxury spa break, whether you're a golf widow who wants to lap up a few hours of solo pampering, or you're looking for a girls-only trip without a nine-iron in sight - rest assured, one world doesn't infiltrate the other here.
