Recline, relax, and let a massage professional soothe away your stresses. When you step into Covent Garden's Thai Square Spa, you leave the bustle of central London behind for a haven of oriental pampering.

Attentive staff ensured I was sipping jasmine tea, surrounded by heavy teak furniture and Buddha statues, before I even left the reception area. Thai Square is like a pocket version of a luxury holiday in your favourite Far East city.

Perfect for respite from a busy day at work or shopping, or a wonderful way to chill and pamper before a big night out in central London; plus five 'bubbles' from the Good Spa Guide are a clear indication that this is a high-end way to chill out in the capital.

All treatments begin with a foot-soak in a bowl of petals, then it's onto the bed for your chosen treatment.

My Come Clean Bali Body Scrub was 45 minutes of pure relaxation. My therapist expertly applied a coffee-based scrub designed to boost circulation and break up the fatty deposits that cause cellulite. Coconut and sea salt helped smooth and soften and skin.

After I had showered in the en suite bathroom, an all-over application of soothing, moisture-rich shea butter left me with skin that was healthy, glowing and lightly scented.

Mentally refreshed, I enjoyed another cup of flower tea while reclining on a lounger before returning to the busy streets of London's Seven Dials area.

Simply lovely, and highly recommended for a me-time treat.
