Sequoia Spa, The Grove

Sequoia Spa, The Grove, Hertfordshire

The Grove and its stunning spa, Sequoia, have some of the best fitness facilities we have ever come across in a spa hotel. Take a dip in the ozone-filtered indoor pool, try out the Technogym Excite equipment in the vast gym and join a Zumba, kettlebell or Boxfit class. If that's not enough activity for you, head out into The Grove's surrounding 300 acres of parkland for a round of golf (it has a championship course), game of tennis, power-walk or outdoor cycle with the gym's personal trainers. When you're done, relax in the steam room or with a fresh smoothie at the juice bar.

Special treatment: The Sequoia Signature Massage, £125, uses traditional Swedish massage techniques to ease any aches and pains and is tailored completely to you.

Our verdict: The Grove offers pretty much everything you could think of fitness-wise. The staff go out of their way to meet your fitness needs, too; there are always instructors on hand and they're so approachable.

Prices: From £420 for two people, including one night's accommodation, with breakfast, use of Sequoia spa, a one-hour treatment each and dinner in The Glasshouse. Call 01923 294294 or visit thegrove.co.uk
