Essential race day kit checklist
Race to run soon? Here's the essential gear
- Race number and safety pins
- Comfortable trainers - never brand new ones!
- Socks that don't cause blisters
- Sports bra and knickers - sweat-wicking material is best
- Running top/vest
- Running jacket
- Shorts/capri pants
- Sports underwear
- Hat/gloves - if it's chilly or an early start
- Old sweatshirt - so you can wear it until you start running, and not worry if you lose it
- Sports watch
- Backpack
- Elastic laces
- Sports drink/water bottle
- Snacks/sweets/energy gels
- Sunscreen/sunglasses - if it's likely to get hot
- Loo roll - the portaloos often run out
- Plasters - just in case!
- Painkillers
- Cash
- Phone
- Camera
- iPod
- Comfortable shoes/flip flops for those tired post-race feet
