Relax! It's just a yoga class

Starting a new fitness activity can be a bit worrying if you've never been before - what to wear, what to expect?

If you're a yoga newbie,  these three beginners' tips from blue cow yoga in London's Moorgate should help you feel a bit less nervous about signing up for your first class:

  1. What to wear: don't worry about labels. Choose flexible clothing that you allows you to flex and stretch. Yoga is about relaxing and if you’re worried about whether you're going to be exposing yourself when you bend over, you will not enjoy your class. See our Gear channel for yoga wear ideas
  2. What to think: attend your first yoga class with an open mind. The class might not be what you were expecting, but remember yoga comes in many guises. Relax into it, and remember, not all the benefits of a yoga class are immediate. Find out which type of yoga might suit you
  3. What to do: if you are a yoga newbie, don't choose a spot right at the front of the class. Position yourself behind someone who seems to know what they are doing so you can follow their lead.
