Want to try your hand at an Olympic sport? Take the chance to play volleyball for free and right on your doorstep, thanks to Volleyball England's Go Spike! campaign.

Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Sitting Volleyball, will all feature at the London 2012 Games, so now's the perfect time to get interested.

As Lynne Beattie, Captain of the Great Britain Women's Volleyball team, says, 'I began playing volleyball on holiday and became a convert - now I am captaining for Great Britain!'

Whether you're a novice or already a volleyball keenie, anyone can join in the free Go Spike! sessions, which will be held at music, entertainment and charity events across England. The scheme runs from June to September; find your nearest session at gospike.

As well as being a very sociable sport, volleyball also improves fitness, coordination and strategic thinking. Volleyball England hopes the free high-energy Go Spike! sessions will leave participants fit and fabulous - and no, you don't have to wear a bikini...
