Happy campers

With the warmest spring on record, coupled with the credit crunch, advance bookings for campsites in the UK have soared.

The Camping and Caravanning Club reports 10% more online bookings than at this time last year.

Meanwhile, search engine Twenga has also seen a rise in search results on camping-related items: searches on tent accessories are up by 450%, camping fridges by 124% and camping barbecues by 53%.

Couple that with research from the Camping and Caravanning Club that indicates campers really are more cheerful - and dusting down the tent becomes a no-brainer.

Some 93% of campers believed that camping makes you happier, and 77% said they were very staisfied with their lives - compared with just 59% of non-campers.
