We've all been there – you're coming to the end of your pack of contraceptive pills and with your busy lifestyle you haven't had time to make an appointment to get any more. If only there was a way you could get certain prescriptions without the need for a doctor's appointment. Well, there may be an answer! Boots Online Treatment Services provides access to selected prescription medication following an online consultation with a healthcare professional without the need for a trip to the GP.
During the working week, 68% of us are closer to a Boots store than our GP's surgery†, meaning that Boots' Online Treatment Services may be a more convenient way of obtaining selected prescription medicines. If you need one of the medicines included in the service (see list right), you can complete an online consultation (charges apply) and if the service is suitable for you, collect the medicines from a Boots store. Some medicines and services require an in store check with a pharmacist. For those services or medicines that do not require in store checks, medicines can be sent to your home address or to your local Post Office for collection (charges may apply).
And that's not all. Nine out of ten doctors estimate that up to 40% of their time is spent giving lifestyle advice††. With Boots Health Assessment tool, customers can get a tailor-made health plan to get them on the right track from the comfort of their own home. Simply go online, complete the assessment, and you'll receive a personalised report with tips and advice on improving your wellbeing. After completing the assessment, you'll have the option to book a face-to-face consultation with an in-store pharmacist for a more detailed evaluation which includes physical health checks such as blood pressure (charges apply).
'This service can help patients get the advice and treatment they need responsibly and conveniently whilst freeing up their GP's time', says GP, Dr Rob Hicks.
Without a doctor's appointment as an excuse, you'll need another reason to finish early on a Friday afternoon.
