The latest fertility gadgets on test
Find out whether a gadget really can help you get pregnant
The expensive gadget: DuoFertility Advanced Fertility Monitor, £495 www.duofertility.com
The tester: Sarah, 37, from Birmingham
'I wanted to make sure I was doing all I could to help me conceive before I got too old, especially as a friend missed out on NHS funded IVF because she was over 39. I had a good chat with someone from the DuoFertility fertility centre on the phone before I started and felt reassured that it could help me feel more in control.
I had to wear a sensor under my arm which recorded my temperature and worked out when I was at my most fertile, indicating with a green light when my husband and I should have sex. As my cycle is pretty erratic this has really helped me to feel a bit more in control. I love how you don't have to wee on sticks! And how you can just put the sensor on and it does the work for you.
I've been plugging in every two or three days to have a look at how things are progressing and look forward to when the green day predictions appear. I've been using it for a few months now and it's really reassuring to know that I am ovulating - something the uring tests couldn't tell me. I didn't appreciate that even though the urine strips can tell you when you might ovulate, they can't confirm it. Because DuoFertility is digital all the information is checked by an expert online, so if there are any unusual changes in my cycle they can flag them up and suggest whether I need any treatment. Luckily there weren't, but it helped me to relax knowing I could call up and get expert advice whenever I need to.'
The verdict: 5 stars
