Jason Cocking, director of Lisa Shepherd London, shares four top tips on getting beach-proof luscious locks

1. The No 1 pre-holiday treatment: the Brazilian Blowdry

Jason says, 'Before you go, nothing beats the Brazilian Blowdry. This will give you frizz-free beach ready locks, that if well maintained can last up to eight months and be purely hassle free.'

2. Do I really need a pre-trip trim?

Jason advises, 'It is important to trim locks not only before you go, but also upon your return. We offer a two-stage holiday cut or colour program, to ensure glossy and well-maintained locks. Cut pre- and post-trip is a must and will leave hair, happy, healthy and damage free. For those keen to colour, the colour program is the perfect option, leaving you looking holiday-ready. But be sure to have a toner treatment upon your return, this will not only moisturise your mane, but lock in colour for a long lasting look.'

3. How best to protect hair from sun damage?

Jason says, 'It is important to protect your hair not only from the sun, but sand, sea and chlorine to keep it bouncy, glossy and in good condition. So be sure to pile on the protection. One of my top products for all hair types is Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer. This is a lifesaver product that not only strengthens and nourishes hair, but also protects locks from those UV rays. Comb through hair by day and use overnight for extra damage repair.

'For those who have naturally curly locks, oils are a great option. It is worth investing in Kerastase Elixir or Clynol glow oils as these will keep frizzy hair at bay and in tip-top condition.

Kelly Hoppen's curly hair tips

'If you’re keen to leave your hair au naturel, then hair accessories are the answer. Invest in a classic wide-brimmed raffia hat, on-trend turban or headscarf to protect from the heat.'

4. How do you prevent your hair from getting damaged by sea salt?

Sea salt gives hair a natural texture, but if not well maintained can leave you with unruly locks and a matted mane. Both the Tangle Teezer and the Shu Uemera paddle brush are a great solution and allow you to achieve natural, tousled locks and the perfect summer look.
