Seated Shoulder Press

Sculpt your shoulders with the seated shoulder press

  • Take a seat and adjust the machine according to the instructions. With your shoulders relaxed and your tummy pulled, take hold of the handles.
  • Breathe in to prepare and as you breathe out, push the handles up to straighten your arms, locking your joints.
  • Push up for three counts, and down for three.

Tone your triceps with a cable machine

  • Put the pulley at the top and attach the rope.
  • Pull it to chest height and step away slightly.
  • Breathe out as you push the cable down so your forearms are parallel with the floor. Your elbows will form a hinge, so they shouldn't move.
  • Pull down for four counts and back up for four.

Hone your biceps with a preacher curl machine

  • Adjust the machine according to the instructions and take a seat. Rest your upper arms on the two pads, with your palms facing upwards.
  • Take hold of the handles so your hands form fists around them. Pull up towards your shoulders, then back down slowly under control.
  • Pull up for four counts and down for four.

Madness to use machines over free weights!  Using free weights whilst standing for arm exercises means that the core muscles will be used for stability.  Free weights also mean that more plans of motion and ranges of movement can be utilised.  Free weights also promote proprioception.

This article should have been shoulder press or hammer curl to press or arnolds or clean to press or jerk to press or over head squat or military press

Then tricep dips or skull crushers or tricep kick backs or close grip bench press.

The biceps could easily be integrated with the shoulders saving time!  Hammer curls and bicep curls are better than preacher because of the increased range of motion and the fact that the core muscles will be working (if stood).

Best thing with using free weights most of the above could be done with a squat or lunge, for example overhead squats or curls with squats or lunges giving a whole body work out.  Cuban presses, YTWLs etc are much better in my opinion, more muscles, less time!

Can't believe machines are being promoted this way, yes they're easier to use but they don't match the benefits of free weights.
