Get a sparkling smile with Philips Sonicare

A Healthy Smile
FIRST THINGS FIRST...
Good oral hygiene is essential if you're after a sparkling, healthy smile. If you're really taking proper care (brushing twice a day and flossing once a day) it's not just your teeth that will reap the benefits; your gums will look healthy and your breath will be fresh too.

1 Brush your teeth as soon as you wake up. Eating or drinking anything acidic for breakfast softens the enamel of your teeth so if you brush afterwards, you're effectively washing it away.
2 It might sound obvious but brushing your teeth properly is essential. Take your time and pay extra attention to your gum line, the hard-to-reach teeth at the back and areas around any dental work.
3 If you rush through your brushing regime, try timing yourself to ensure you reach the full 2 minutes recommended by the British Dental Health Foundation. It's longer than you think!
4 Always, always floss. If you skip this part you're missing all of the bacteria that's hidden away under your gum line – a hot spot for tooth decay and gum disease.
5 Water is fab for neutralising nasty bacteria and keeping your breath fresh so make sure you drink at least 6 glasses of it daily. Just don't be tempted to add sugary cordials and juices to add flavour!

Fast Fact

WHY GO ELECTRIC?
The deeper cleaning power of the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush removes 100% more plaque than a manual toothbrush. It's also clinically proven to whiten teeth in just one week and improves your gum health in just two weeks.

YOUR ESSENTIAL KIT
A Great Toothbrush: The new Philips Sonicare DiamondClean combines the latest technology with a teeth-cleaning experience that's tailored to you. With brush heads that come in two sizes, a standard size and a compact one, five brushing modes (including a super gentle one for sensitive teeth and a whitening mode) and 44% more bristles than the standard sized Philips' heads, it's no surprise it offers a superior standard of teeth cleaning. The DiamondClean toothbrush also has a smart-timer, so you can be sure you'll spend the recommended time of 2 minutes brushing. Oh, and did we mention it looks great too.

A Dentist Approved Toothpaste: Look for one that contains fluoride – it's a naturally occurring mineral that's fab at protecting teeth against decay. Most packs will tell you how many parts per million of fluoride the toothpaste contains, measured in ppm - 500ppm is a low level, 1000-1500ppm is a high level.

A Fuss-Free Flossing Tool: There's a reason only 5 to 10% of us floss regularly; fiddling with flossing ribbon, getting the technique right and being heavy handed can make it an uncomfortable, time consuming experience. Not any more. Sonicare AirFloss uses relevoutionary microburst technology; rapid bursts of air and water droplets (rather than ribbon) that travel up to 45mph to force plaque and bacteria out of the gaps between your teeth. And it's a cinch to use; just direct the nozzle, turn it on and go. It'll take less than a minute.
