How important are they?
I have recently started exercising again after a long break and I am enjoying it so much that I am finding it diffiuclt to take rest days! How many days a week should I rest (I am working quite hard: gym sessions, spinning, Davina's new INTENSE DVD and also walking about 40 minutes on weekdays home from work)?
Also, I presume I can still do the walking and is a yoga session ok? Or is it best to have a complete rest day? I don't want to overdo it and have to stop!
Thanks for any feedback.
i struggle to take them too! i try to have one full day off a week and a long walk, yoga or rock climbing on one day. they are important as your body needs time to recover after exercise and putting lots of strain on the body by over exercising will make it less effective and put you at injury risk. i make my rest day my day of beauty and do my nails, put on a face mask, have a long bath and cook a nice meal
Well I don't think if you have really exercise habit then you can rest a single day..Make a short time for exercise in every day..because regular exercise is best..
I don't make any pause in my regular exercise routine..
For every two days you exercise one is supposed to take a rest day. Rest days don't mean you have to do nothing though, a light walk, yoga and pilate's are all things you can do on rest days. rest days just mean you don't do as high intensity workouts.
As for how imortant they are, well they allow your body to repair, without them you risk both fatigue and damage to your body.
You don't have to have a complete rest day as in no exercise. Go for a nice walk/yoga session
Rest days are definitely worth having! But yes, why not have a walk if you feel like you want to do something. Once you've exercised about 5 days in a row and then have 1-2 rest days, you'll feel different! First I felt guilty for rest days, but after having them I feel like I started seeing results faster
