If you're worrried about the number of chemicals you use in your skincare regime, try these simple steps from Nicola Elliott of organic skincare company NEOM, for an instant eco- makeover of your bathroom cabinet.

  1. FOCUS ON EVERYDAY PRODUCTS: Hand washes and lotions, shower gels are used every day, and by your whole family, so changing that simple product to an organic version will reduce the chemical count for your household quite significantly.
  2. THINK BIG: Are there products you use a lot of? Think about creams which cover the largest surface area and you use in bigger quantities - like body lotion. Why not swap to an organic version? Nicola says, 'I have half an understanding of you not swapping your eye cream - but your body lotion? Over all your skin?'
  3. DUMP THE BUBBLE BATH: Bubble bath can contain loads of nasties, including copious amounts of skin-stripping SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate)  - why not use a few drops of your favourite essential oil in the bath for a serious, therapeutic bath without the additives?
