4 ways to lush lashes

Give your eyelashes a boost to see them grow long and thick

Flutter your way to luscious eyelashes

1. OIL 'EM UP

Applying Vaseline nightly can help prevent your lashes becoming brittle, but for a real lash boosting treatment, try castor oil.

'Castor oil is an age-old natural remedy that can be massagd into your lashes to help keep them moisturised, full and supple,' says celebrity make-up artist Tara Templeton.

2. GO EASY ON THE EYELASH CURLERS

'Avoid using eyelash curlers every day - they can snap the tips off your lashes,' says expert Tara.

Remember to replace their pads and clean them to ensure your eyelashes don't stick to the curlers or tear. Save false lashes for special occasions rather than making them an everyday habit.

3. USE EYELASH SERUM

Our tester rates Rapidlash Eyelash Enhancing Serum, £39.99.

'After losing my eyelashes during a course of chemo, I'd say I was probably the perfect candidate to try this lash-enhancing serum. I was sceptical, but was completely blown away by the results. After three months of applying nightly (missing one night is a no-no, apparently), my eyelashes were literally tickling my eyebrows. Amazing!'

4. CLEANSE THOROUGHLY

Use an effective eye make-up remover rather than just rubbing, which can damage your eyelashes. Look out for one that also nourishes your lashes, such as Talika Gentle Eye Cleanser (£14.50), available from beautybay.com, or La Therapie Lotion Yeux Sensibles Gentle Eye Cleanser for sensitive eyes (£21.50) from timetospa.com.

Good work, Amanda. Stick with the spinning: it's seriously addictive and such a great calorie burner. You're so gonna shift that last stone!
