Q: I SEEM TO HAVE A HEADACHE BY LUNCH, WHETHER I'M SITTING AT A COMPUTER OR NOT. I'M WORRIED I'LL GET ADDICTED TO PAINKILLERS. WHAT CAN I DO? Zoe, 28, Bath

A: It may be the painkillers that are causing your headaches. It's not uncommon for people who take them regularly to get 'analgesia headaches' as the painkiller withdraws from their system. So, you need to try to ditch the pills, then take a look at other possible causes. Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration is a big headache inducer. Other culprits are hunger, artifi cial light, poor posture and stress. So eat regularly, move your work position so you have plenty of natural light and adjust your chair to provide good support. You could try acupuncture or craniosacral massage, which help to realign the spine and skull - they might be your long-term solution to stress and tension headaches. It's a good idea to keep a headache diary to identify what might be causing them and when they're at their worst. Then, if they continue, visit your GP and take it with you.

i'm wondering why i have constant headaches? i had ibuprofin 600 mg prescribed to me and that didn't work. when i have my headaches they will last for hours. nothing helps take the pain away. when they do finally go away that will only last about an hour then i'm fighting the battle again. the headache starts in between my eyes. then it widens out and travels down the back of my head like a mow-hawk. to top it off, the headache branches out and falls over the entire scalp like a waterfall. they are so painfull. my mother had 3 anuerisms and i'm wondering if they are inherited through genes and that is the cause of my massive headaches? my mother had a headache for 3 weeks straight before one anuerism exploded. my headaches have been going longer but not a constant all day everyday thing. i'd like some help with this headache thing if possible. thank you very much.
