How do I get rid of the lump on my leg?

Dr Pixie gives advice about a bruise that won't go away

Posted: 28 September 2011

Q. I FELL WHILE SKIING LAST WINTER AND HAD A HUGE BRUISE ON MY LEG. I'M NOW LEFT WITH A HARD LUMP. WHAT IS IT AND WILL IT GO?

A. As it's been there for so long it's unlikely to go of its own accord. It may be a bruised vein or fluid that's collected under the area you bashed. If it isn't painful, it's unlikely to cause problems but if it hurts, feels irregular or is getting bigger, see your GP, who may suggest an ultrasound investigation.
